Wabakimi is a world class recreational area in the heart of northwestern Ontario. It is well known for its fly-in fishing, quality resorts, wilderness canoeing and caribou. The park is accessible by canoe, float plane or rail service. About 500 backcountry campsites are scattered throughout the park. For those seeking a retreat or educational experience, many lodge and outpost camp operators mix opportunities for quality wilderness accommodations with backcountry experiences. These include boat and canoe exploration, day trips, ecotours, wildlife viewing, sunbathing, swimming, berry picking, relaxation, and peace and quiet. Some outfitters offer guided canoe trips that include whitewater training and a chance to learn more about the natural and cultural history of Wabakimi.
