Natural Features
Edward Island is a low-lying island, densely covered with boreal
forest. Geologists and rockhounds can have a field day here, locating
specimens of Paleohelikian, Southern Province, volcanic and sedimentary
rocks, not to mention the type section for the lower member of the
Osler Group. Volcanic flows and basalt sheets intermingle with till
from ancient Lake Wisconsin and recent cobble beaches.
